A Call not to Compromise In Evangelism,Sermon

A Call not to Compromise

And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Luke 9:62

One of the shortest and powerful message of Jesus Christ is Luke chapter 17:32 which states “REMEMBER LOT’S WIFE”. The story is written in Gen 19:26. The Lord commanded Lot and his wife and two daughters to depart from Sodom and Gomorrah. They were privileged because an angel of God held their hands to lead them out, but the command was “don’t look back”. Unfortunately, Lot’s wife looked back and she became a pillar of salt. Every Christian who looks back that is goes back to his old ways, sins, etc is regarded to have looked back, that means such a Christian has gone back to his vomit. Who is that person that will vomit and like to eat it again? I have never seen anyone except dog. In 2Peter 2:20-22 it is written “For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.” This is regarded as backsliding, looking back and compromising. It is not a news that every believer or Christian is still living in this world of corruption, temptation and daily invitation and exposure to sin. It is therefore necessary to know what to do to stand firm, steadfast, unmoveable, unyielding so that we can enter the kingdom of God which Christ has gone to prepare for us.

The devil with all his devices (social media, entertainment, pleasure, worldliness, magic, fashion, music, dressing, technology facilities) is pulling us on one side, to his side and God on the other side through his available resources (the bible, Holy Spirit, Pastors, preachers, miracles, revelations) is pulling us to his side, so man is the centre of the struggle and battle between God and Satan, Light and darkness, Good and bad, which side will you go? To be on God’s side then you must not COMPROMISE (means don’t accept satanic offers in place of God). The following will help you to remain steadfast and don’t become another Lot’s wife.

  1. DAILY BIBLE STUDY AND PRACTICE. Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Psalm 119:9-11, 105, 150, Acts 17:11. It is not enough to carry the Bible about, please read it, study it, meditate on it, practice it, preach it and store it in your heart. By so doing you will not compromise nor look back.
  2. DAILY SPIRITUAL CHECK-UP. 1Cor 11:28; 2Cor 13:5; Lamentation 3:40. Daily spiritual check-up is a process of sincere evaluation, examination and self stock taking to check if we are still in God’s will or we are declining. Failure to carry out daily spiritual checkup leads to complacency. The way sin corrupt us is through daily corrosion. The solution is daily examination so as to cleanse ourselves. We brush and bathe daily to remove dirt which lead to bad odour in the mouth and body and eventually sickness. The same is true of our spiritual life, it needs daily checkup for cleanser because we are in a world that is fully loaded with sins and all agents of sins being used by the devil.
  3. DAILY QUITE TIME. Mark 1:35, “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.”  Gen 24:63 “And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.” Our Lord Jesus had quite time everyday; we saw example of Isaac also. Our quite time is our personal devotion time, a time alone with God. We must praise, worship, speak in tongues, read the Bible, pray, (supplication and intercession) and commit our daily, monthly and yearly activities unto Him. During this period God will speak to us as it pleases Him. I always enjoy this as a means of spiritual check-up and restoration in my life. Don’t forget Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

This is my secret as a Christian.

  1. DAILY PREACHING THE WORD. Mark 16:15-17, Luke 9:23 “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” Acts 10:38 “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” You must confess, proclaim your faith and testify about Jesus everyday. In fact, you must tell somebody about God daily, about Jesus daily, about the Holy Spirit daily, about your pastor daily, about your church programmes daily. If you practice this, you will have no time to gossip and commit sin, you are occupied for the Lord. Please, don’t neglect soul winning because other religions are not joking with this but most Christians are no more soul winners but selfish lookers. If you don’t win your world your world will win you, if you don’t win a soul, your soul will be won by somebody or something.
  2. DAILY FELLOWSHIP WITH BRETHREN. Heb 10:25 “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” This is a perilous time when men shall be lovers of pleasure than God. Many churches in Europe are becoming empty. This should not be so. We must encourage one another, pray for one another, fellowship together, stand by one another by so doing, we can do great exploits and become overcomers in all facets of human endeavour.

Don’t forget that one will chase a thousand but two ten thousands. Imagine the ratio of what one can do and what ten will do. We are called unto fellowship with God and with one another. Therefore, don’t forsake the assembly of brethren, the saints if you must remain steadfast to inherit our heavenly father’s kingdom. Daniel and his companion Meshach, Shedrack and Abednego were able to change the decree of death issued by the king in Babylon because of their fellowship with God and one another. Daniel 2:17-19.

Nowadays, work has turned many Christians to Sunday worshipers, many parents are now absentee fathers and mothers. It is not right, make sure you attend mid-week services, your absenteeism because of work is end time satanic agenda, God will help us.

MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: I have discovered that what I have written here is the only antidote to COMPROMISE. Also these principles are becoming increasingly difficult for Christians due to global economic recession, civilisation, modernisation, philosophy of men, materialism, immoralities, financial hardship and societal expectations.

Consequentially, it takes personal/self determination, heavenly determination and total dedication to please God and displease self and people to do them. Please, Christ is coming very soon, don’t compromise your Christian faith or look back, be like Daniel in Babylon, Joseph in Egypt, Paul in new testament and host of other disciples who died for their faith in Christ. It is a very hard time to be a Christian but His GRACE is SUFFICIENT FOR US.

Be rapture ready.
